Every other Tuesday, I’m posting bits of a new short story with Anne from Eternal Affairs.  It’s a fun piece because for once, I’m not planning everything out.  It’s spontaneous as to when I sit down to write the next installment.  It feels very much like some of Philip K. Dick’s short stories (not as good as his, just I get the same emotion writing this as I do reading his).

Prologue: I hate dreams

 

I’m going to die.

 

The thought ran through my head as I peered down over the castle walls, staring into the thick fog that blanketed the snowy ground below.  Gray clouds acted as a ceiling in the late night hours, hiding the sliver moon and pinprick stars from view.  There wasn’t much of a breeze for a change and as snow began to fall, it drifted straight down instead of the tiny flurries to which I had grown accustomed.
